Data analysis and visualisation for small dimensions

Abstract:

We discuss some historical examples and recent possibilities for the analysis and visualisation of quantitative data in small but non-trivial dimensions (dimension 3, ..., 11, say).

We will try to address the problem to give a definition of 'dimension' which takes into account the particularities of a statistical context and discuss approaches to assess dimensionality from data.
